The 70-year-old Long Island man who killed American rapper Nicki Minaj’s father, Robert Maraj has turned himself in to law enforcement.
Charles Polevich, according to the police knew what he was doing as he knocked down Robert, asked if he was okay and fled the scene, avoiding streets with cameras.
The deceased was walking on the roadway as the sidewalk was already covered in snow, on Roslyn Road near his Mineola home before Polevich hit him at Raff Avenue at 6:15 pm om the 12th of February.
“He was absolutely aware of what happened. He got out of the car, looked at the deceased. He made the conscious decision to leave,” Lt Stephen Fitzpatrick, Nassau County Detective said at a press conference.
“He did things to alter us from being able to discover the car. We were able to track that vehicle prior to the accident as well as after the accident and tracked it right to his house”, Fitzpatrick added.
The Island man was charged $250,00 and requested to return.
