FIDELA4UNA Releases A New Album “Better Days,” Holds Concert In Lagos – By Emdee David

Fidela Eleyi, popularly known as FIDELA has been consistent in passing the message of hope to the downtrodden in Nigeria. He is a grassroot Nigerian musician who sing and raps in pidgin lingua to get his message to the real people who are suffering from the bad situation of his country.

The Naija Hip-hop star/Rap, artiste and Music composer is known for his versatile performance on stage and the eloquence of his rap in local pidgin English endears him to many. Fidela4una is not so new in the Nigerian hip hop scene and his ability to combining Afro hip hop and Naija rap with Afrobeat root sounds has created a niche for him. His music is a rich blend of deep and poetic sultry Afrobeat blend with contemporary Hip-hop rhythm that made the legendary Afrobeat maestro Tony Allen to call Fidela4una “Naija Hip-hop Artist” after listening to his debut album, “This Na Our Song”.

He is urban and urbane. His life’s journey – a story of survival from the ill of the society which resonates in his music, creates a conscious dialogue between his sounds. This musical fusion demonstrates the path to a new and culturally integrated Nigeria in which a common heritage is reinforced to meet the needs of today’s world. His quest is for Nigeria’s unity at a time when he believes Nigeria should claim its rightful and proud place in the world.

This is the main message in Fidela4una’s debut album “This Na Our Song” which exhibits the richness of poetry in rap music. The breathes new life into Nigeria’s hip hop society.

  Fidela4Ua is releasing another album titled “Better Days” on all online stores on the 1 Sept 2024. It is a 20-track masterpiece of hard work and creativity which combine the best of Fidela4una songs compilation and also a calls for Nigeria’s unity.  The songs make a plea for the voices of the citizen to be heard by those in authority and that our human rights be respected. The album also celebrates Nigeria’s love for life with infectious dance tracks that bring fans to their feet.

Fidela was influenced by several musicians including the like of Fela Kuti, 2pac, Shabba Rank, Michael Jackson and Bob Marley. Known as Fidela4una and ‘Nigerian rapper’ was born on the 22nd of September 1976 in his home town Utonkon Ado LGA Benue state Nigeria. He Attended Army Cantonment High School, Oshodi high school after he left Ewu Tuntun primary school, Lagos.

 Fidela4una started his music career in 1999 when his dad retired from military service as an Air Force Officer. With much discipline from his Father and the situation around him Fidel4Una learnt to express his opinion through afro hip-hop music as a rap artist. From a humble beginning in his father’s house, Fidela4una started writing his songs in his indigenous Naija language which he was comfortable with and believed people in his country will relate to. His first song, ‘Hear the song’ was produced by Ebi Ogosi aka Godfada in 2000 and reproduced in 2003 when he featured Kage and Immaculate. Due to time lap and other factors that changed, Fidela later reproduced the song by himself and featured Abdul Shabudeen aka Soultan and Yek. The song was remixed in 2009 by ace producer Ryhmzo who made the current sound of the song with an afro trap flavour. 

FIDELA4UNA is well-known for his high-energy performance and he combines that with song writing, producing as well as creating music videos for other artists. He is also a professional sound engineer who has worked in notable Studios in Lagos. Fidela4una was the first son of his mother and the fourth child of his father, the pressure of being the big brother to his mother’s children are always pushing Fidela4una to venture into more creative and productive activity. Fidela4una was also involved in the production of a stereoman’s album produced by Ebi Ogosi aka “godfada” in 2003 at Timberland Recording Studio at 1 Modupe Johnson street, Off Adeniran Ogunsanya Surulere, Lagos Nigeria.

He was also part of the recording engineers for Etcetera’s award-winning album, “Hello Mitchell”, for the Legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen, and Legendary Bogos Ikwue’s three album projects.

Fidela4una has shot videos for his album, ‘This Na our song’ by Ken TV and ‘African Child’, shot by Mr K for Chaakoko films. He was the runner-up at the MaxActuvate 2.0 rap battle challenge organized by Max102.3fm Lagos. He has performed in several shows and concerts including Calabar Carnival in 2007 Mr and Mrs Ekiti’s beauty pageant in 2009, Artmosphere 1.0 in Akwa Ibom state in 2016.

Of him, Soultan once said, “You guys know bars and lyricism have their spot in my heart, so when Fidela4una reached out to collaborate, I was super excited. He’s a visionary and incredible talent, so it was an honor to team up on a track. ‘This Na Our Song’ is exactly that, we don’t do anything average over here. Afro Hip-hop is alive and well.”

The song, “This Na Our Song” best describes who the artiste Fidela4una is and his purpose as a Afro Rap artist who exploits our different tribes and cultural heritage, showing it to the world through a rap song.

His latest album, “Better Days” is now available in all streaming platforms and online stores globally.
