Dimeji Ajibola, a Nollywood producer and director has passed away on Sunday after battle with an undisclosed illness.
His friend and colleague, Samuel Olatunji announced this in his social media handles a while ago.
His post read: “Dimeji Ajibola was my client and friend. So sad to hear this news. Rest in peace to a great guy! Sad Sunday as the director of Shanty Town passed away.”
Dimeji Ajibola’s career span over 18 years working in both film and advertising industry. He was very successful in promoting brands and producing contents for the advertising, television and film. Dimeji Ajibola started as an animator, bring home what brands would otherwise go abroad to achieve. His created animated TV Ads for the MTN Yello ads, Coca-cola TV ads and many others.
He was the CEO and Technical Director of Flipsyde Studios Ltd. His work on Hoodrush in 2012 marked Nigeria’s first urban musical film, showcasing his ability to bridge narrative storytelling with rich musical elements.
The film won multiple awards, including Best Movie at the 2012 Green Me Film Festival in Germany, Best Actor and Soundtrack at the Nollywood Movies Awards, and Best Supporting Actor at the AMAA Awards.
